untitledradio is a project that was conceived in 2007 by metro-Detroit born and raised music fanatic Tom Kopczynski. The path began early, in his childhood, while being brought up with the sounds of Motown and The Rolling Stones present, his passion for music grew and has continued to grow ever since. In 2005, after receiving his Bachelor of Arts in Telecommunications, Digital Media Arts and Technologies from Michigan State University, when Tom began an internship in Detroit morning radio with CBS. Eventually, the value Tom provided paid off and he was soon producing radio content as an assistant on Dick Purtan and Purtan’s People and later Jay and Bill Mornings. Both shows have been dominant ratings forces in Detroit morning radio. In 2008, Tom moved his professional career away from the unstable landscape of radio into the ever-growing interactive, digital marketing sector.
In 2006 Tom began his first, original music blog via the then newish blogspot platform Google had released. The site was short lived as Tom began to focus his web talents toward his radio career, suggesting the program he worked on at the time begin a weblog to drive online traffic. Around this time, devoid of his own personal creative outlet, Tom began creating untitledradio.
Originally, the idea was to have podcasts set around exposing fans to new music in an informative way. However, after leaving radio, the lack of a corporate funded audio studio to use on off-shifts became a problem. The project laid dormant until 2011 when Tom decided to relaunch untitledradio as an online magazine. The mission now is for untitledradio to offer site visitors a more unique exposure to music (new and old) and art by publishing compelling, original content.
